Yahoo No More? Yahoo Search Now Powered By Bing Microsoft

This is basically old news (July 29th), but here it is anyway…
The dust hasn’t even settled from Microsoft’s name change of it’s search engine to Bing, and now Yahoo and Microsoft (Bing) have signed an agreement in which Yahoo is giving up control of all things search related to Bing for the next 10 years. Yahoo won’t get anywhere near what they were offered last year, $47.5 billion dollars cash up front, but they will make out quite nicely, including 88% of all of the revenue that is generated from sites owned and operated by Yahoo.
It’s going to be interesting to see what changes are made, good and bad. Quite a few SEO tools rely on Yahoo linking information, as well as other things, and it’s uncertain what is to come of all of these.
The aftermath of this is uncertain… in many different areas. As far as SEO goes, as far as competition goes, as far as consumers go…
