If you have the opportunity to get your keyword in your domain name, it's definately advisable. I don't know to what extent search engines would discount domain names with lots of dashes, but I would use as few as possible, like maybe your name but without dashes. I would try to primarily get your keywords into your domain name, and if you have to, location. You could look for something "carpet cleaning" or as close as you could get it, and then on your pages of your site, put your address at the bottom of your pages as text, not an image or otherwise, you could put your address and area code and phone number. The search engines should pick that up to help out with local search or your location. You coudl also get something like carpetcleaningcalif.com and then in your page title you could use "Carpet Cleaning San Francisco, Ca" and then use it in your meta keywords first, and your meta description, as well as your physical address, with area code and phone at the bottom of all of your pages (as text). I'd do something like that instead of carpetcleaning-san-francisco-ca.com

Thanks much,
Mike

How valuable to the search engines is it to have your key word in your domain name? also do the search engines discount the value of your domain name if it has dashes in it such as carpetcleaningSan-Francisco-Ca.com
