What do I do with my Keywords and where do I put them?

Even if you only have a second, there are a few very quick things
that you can do to greatly increase your likely hood that your site
will rank much higher for your chosen keywords.

There are a few places, where if you put your keywords there
properly, will make a huge difference.

Web pages are simply, for the most part, text files that are
located in a folder on a computer called a server.  When someone
types in your URL (uniform resource locater ) or website, another
computer tells all of the other computers where the computer is
which has that folder, as well as where the files are at.

It then pulls up the text files that make up your webpage and they
are then displayed in your browser.

As most webpages are made up of text files, most of what makes up
a web page is text.  Specially formatted text called HTML, or
Hyper-text Markup Language.  It’s a special code of text that lets
computers talk about how web pages look, what color they are, what
is actually on them, etc.  It can get more complicated that this,
but those are the basics.

So, for example, let’s go to www.coolbubba.com , which is my
website.  It pulls up a page with a white bar down the middle with
two black bars on the side.  The white bar has text and video and
other things located in it.

Now, take your mouse pointer and put it over the black part of the
page and click with your right mouse button.  Menu items will
appear, let’s choose “View Page Source” (in Firefox) or “View
Source” (in Internet Explorer) and then left click.  This will
bring up and show the actual text file that makes up my web page.

If you look at the second line, you will see:

<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Search Engine Optimization, Link Building, Small
Business Search Engine Optimization</TITLE>

What is located between the <TITLE> and </TITLE> is known as the
title tag.  This is displayed in the far left hand corner of the
browser when you are at the site.

On my site, if you open it in a browser, up in the far left hand
corner, next to the icon, you will see the words:

Search Engine Optimization, Link Building, Small Business Search
Engine Optimization

These are the primary keywrods I’ve chosen to target on this page
for now.

Say for example you had a company called Texas Business Networkers
Alliance

Quite a few people would either not pay attention to the title tag,
and ti would read “untitled” or it would be blank, and some would
even put “Texas Business Networkers Alliance” or even “Home Page.”

The title tag is one of the most important things you can do as far
as on page optimization to rank well in the search engines.

So back to the Texas Business Networkers Alliance example.  We’ll
assume they have done their keyword research and are targeting
texas business networking, texas networking, business networking in
texas, in that order of importance.

In this case, and idea title tag would be:
<TITLE>Texas Business Networking, Texas Netwroking, Business
Networking in Texas – Texas Business Network Alliance</TITLE>

which would appear on the page and in the browser window as:
Texas Business Networking, Texas Networking, Business Networking in
Texas – Texas Business Network Alliance

We incorporate our most important keywords first, which tell the
search engines what our page is about, and then we incorporate our
company name, which also has our keywords in it.

Say for example our business was called Zibble Bit and was a Texas
Business Networking group.  Having Zibble Bit in the title tag,
while members and the public might know what it means and associate
that with the business networking group, it tells a computer
nothing about what is the subject of the page other than Zibble Bit.

Much like, in the beginning, Google had nothing to do with search,
and it’s meaning wouldn’t have indicated search at all.  It’s much
different now, as it is synonymous with search, but you get the
idea.

So first thing, check out the title tag of your website.  Does it
include your main keywords first, or even at all?  If not you need
to incorporate them as soon as possible.

Backing up even a bit further, do you even know what your primary
keywords are and why?  If not, contact me for a free keyword
report and consultation
.   There is a form on that page where you
can request more information.
